Hampi, India

recently we (7 expats) travelled to the ancient ruins at hampi india. hampi still retains much of the old world market charm. people are now touting tour guides and postcards rather than brass cups and diamonds. the train ride, by the way, was 12 hours each way. there is now no such thing as a long drive to LA...

a pilgrim waiting for the gates of the temple to open

curses! a mutton blockade!

now that's a fruit luvin' grin!

Ganesh is everywhere and this statue seemed both powerful and alluring. it is guarded by monkeys, both big and small.

cricket...is...everywhere...

this temple seemed untouched by air, rain, sun- it seemed so majestic compared to its cousins.

all 11 royal elephants had a seperate stable and mahout (trainer).

the river where apparently in hampi a coracle is used to shuttle motorcycles.
